Dairy
One Milk Laboratories are one of the largest milk analysis laboratory
networks currently operating in the United States. Not only are
the laboratories acknowledged for sample volume and advanced technology,
they are also recognized for outstanding customer service, timely
results and the overall integrity and quality of those results.
There are four individual laboratory
sites: Ithaca, New York; State College Pennsylvania; Hagerstown,
Maryland; and Waverly, Pennsylvania. Each lab is run independently,
but works closely with one another to balance out sample volume
and lab throughput.
The Ithaca lab serves four different market segments:
| 1. |
Dairy One DHIA samples. |
| 2. |
Calibration and control samples for other laboratories. |
| 3. |
A resource for commercial research and development. |
| 4. |
Responsible for a substantial portion of the
Northeastern United States producer payment testing. |
The lab is also recognized and approved
by the AOAC Research Institute and FDA as an independent reference
laboratory. Fully equipped with state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation,
the lab analyzes over 300,000 samples monthly.
The State College laboratory offers many
of the same services as the Ithaca lab. This lab tests Dairy One
DHIA samples and research samples for Penn State University and
New Bolton Center. They also perform regulatory testing, direct
microsocopic somatic cell counts, and bacteria standard plate counts.
The lab tests approximately 150,000 samples per month.
Hagerstown, is the site of the third
milk lab. This lab tests the bulk of their samples for Dairy One
customers in Maryland, West Virginia, Delaware, Virginia, New Jersey,
Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan. The Hagerstown lab is equipped
with a Foss 300, Milko-Scan 303, and a Bentley 2000 Combi Unit.
They average about 55,000 samples per month.
Associated with the Dairy One network,
is Eastern Laboratory Services (ELS). Located in Waverly, PA, it
is primarily an environmental and industrial laboratory testing
facility. You can learn more about ELS by accessing their web site:
