New Dairy One Services - February 2005
Responding to changes and demands in the marketplace, Dairy One is proud to introduce new packages and pricing for 2005. The biggest changes are in our NIR services. Components have been added and the price reduced to bring you the best value for your forage analysis dollar.

1. NIR services. The number of NIR packages is being reduced from eight to three. At the same time, the number of nutrients included has been increased and the price reduced. The new packages are designated by feed type, simplifying the package selection process. The price for all NIR services is $14.
(F-321) Forage NIR – DM, CP, SP, RDP, ADICP, NDICP, est. lysine and methionine, ADF, NDF, lignin, starch, sugar, NSC, NFC, fat, ash, RFV, RFQ (w/ 48hr NDFD), TDN, NEl, NEm, NEg, ME, DE, Ca, P, Mg, K, S, Cl, VFA Score (silages). Optional - select either NDFD24hr, 30hr or 48hr free of charge. Each additional NDFD time point at $4.00.

New 2005
: Optional NDFD value of your choosing, energies calculated using NDFD, chloride, VFA score, est. lysine and methionine. Lysine and methionine are from the 2001 Dairy NRC.
(G-322) Grain NIR – DM, CP, SP, RDP, ADICP, NDICP, est. lysine & methionine, ADF, NDF, lignin, starch, NSC, NFC, fat, ash, TDN, NEl, NEm, NEg, ME, DE, Ca, P, Mg, K, S. Available for (dry, high moisture, or wet): shelled corn, ear corn, barley, oats, triticale, wheat, distillers and brewers grains.

New 2005: estimated lysine and methionine.

(T-323) TMR NIR – DM, CP, SP, ADF, NDF, lignin, starch, NFC, fat, ash, TDN, NEl, NEm, Neg.
New 2005: lignin and starch.

Wet chemistry minerals are available as an extra cost option that can be added to any one of the above packages.
(M-329) Wet Chemistry Minerals $10 – substitute/add wet chemistry Ca, P, Mg, K, Na, K, Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn, Mo to any of the above.

2. New Sample Information sheet – simplified, more open with NIR services on the front and wet chemistry on the back. Click here to view and print the recent new form.

3. Energies now available in English (Mcal/lb) or Metric (Mcal/kg). Mark your preference on the sample information sheet.

4. New Mineral Mix package – added CP, S, Cl and Co to the old mineral package. CP was added to cover urea inclusion in many mineral mixes. Any sample deemed a mineral mix by the lab will automatically be assigned this package (unless a Custom Package is requested).

Mineral Ingredient or Mixture $28 – DM, Crude Protein, Ca, P, Mg, K, Na, Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn, Mo, Co, S, Cl. This package must be used for all mineral mixtures and individual mineral ingredients.

5. New Guarantee Analysis – ash added to the package.
Guarantee Analysis $21 – DM, CP, Crude Fiber, and Crude Fat (ether extract), Ash.

6. New Animal Byproduct package. Any sample deemed an animal byproduct by the lab will automatically be assigned this package (unless a Custom Package is requested).

Animal Byproduct $34
– DM, CP, SP, fat, ash, TDN, NEl, NEm, NEg, ME, DE, Ca, P, Mg, K, Na, Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn, Mo, Sulfur.

7. VFA Score – a numerical index based on the lactic, acetic and butyric acid concentration of the silage. Score will range from 0 - 10, with higher scores indicating better fermentations. Similar to RFV in concept, the score will give you an idea how well the silage is being managed. The score will be generated with each forage wet chemistry Fermentation Profile. Additionally, we are building a NIR database for performing VFA analyses. We do not have the ability to generate a full fermentation profile by NIR, but we can generate the VFA Score. A VFA Score will automatically be reported for silages analyzed using (321) NIR Forage package. Low scores should prompt you to do a complete wet chemistry Fermentation Profile to locate problem areas in the silage management program. Click here for more information.

Beyond the above, all other packages and pricing are unchanged. Please contact us if you have any questions about our new services at forage@dairyone.com or 1-800-496-3344, ext. 2172. Thanks again for using Dairy One.
